Comix Club: Three is a Magic Number - make an experimental comic with Matt Madden
Art Department at Parkway Central Library
This month's special edition of Comix Club will host a special free workshop with the prolific Philadelphia-based artist, Matt Madden.
Matt Madden will show you how to make a one-page comic using a prompt taken from a simple yet challenging poetry form called a tritina. You'll learn how rules and constraints can spark your creativity and help you enter a flow state of deep focus. You can use these principles for everything from warm-up sketches to jam comics with friends to ambitious, book-length works. Read more about Matt Madden's tritina method here.
Paper and drawing materials will be provided. Space in this free workshop is limited; please arrive promptly to secure a seat.
Comix Club usually meets every third Thursday, in the Art Department, on Parkway Central Library's 2nd floor, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to draw and read comics from the Philadelphia Comics Collection and beyond. This collection contains work published in Philly or made by local artists and is always available for in-library use. Please be aware that the content of many of these comics is mature and graphic in nature, and so readers must be 18 and up.
