Invisible Barriers: How Ableism Affects Accessibility. More than 70 million adults in the U.S. reported having a disability in 2022, according to the latest CDC data. Accessibility, or the lack thereof, is a vital concern in the country and in our city. Navigating ableism, which can manifest as microaggression or overt discrimination, can be challenging for people living with a disability. How does Philadelphia show up for its residents living with a disability? What services are currently available and what can be improved? How did we get here and how do we move forward? Join WHYY News Community & Engagement team for Bridging Blocks, a civic dialogue series in partnership with The Free Library of Philadelphia.
Bridging Blocks is aimed at bringing together culturally and politically diverse households for civil dialogue and understanding. This program is presented in partnership with WHYY and The Free Library of Philadelphia and supported by Fred and Barbara Sutherland.
