Comix Club
Art Department at Parkway Central Library
We typically gather every third Thursday, in the Art Department, on Parkway Central Library's 2nd floor, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to read, talk and draw comics. If you're new to the club: simply stop by and bring your comics project to work on or just hang out and read comics from the Philadelphia Comics Collection. This collection contains work published in Philly or made by local artists. The entirety of this collection is cataloged and available for in-library use. Please be aware that the content of many of these comics is mature and graphic in nature, and so readers must be 18 and up.
Participants can also try making a quick two-hour comic using supplies we have here during the club meeting that we'll stash a copy away for a future Comix Club zine. Occasionally we host readings and workshops as part of this space so please let us know if you have an idea for something you'd like the club to try.
This month marks two years since the official launch of the Philly Comics Collection! Want to write a review or two of some comics of your choice in this collection? We’ll share the reviews online and in our forthcoming zine. Come read some comics and submit your review by email to: ErefArt@freelibrary.org
