Financial Aid Prep for Teens and Parents (Virtual)

College and test prep workshops return to the Free Library for the 2024-2025 school year, hosted by Field Teen Center in partnership with The Alexander Advantage. This free series is for high school students up to age 18 and their parents.
This virtual workshop will cover preparation for FAFSA and PHEAA applications to recieve financial aid for college. The live session will stream from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at https://www.youtube.com/@freelibraryteencentral. The recording will become available on YouTube at a later date

Fall workshops will explore paying for college with both in-person and virtual sessions.
- Saturday, October 12, 2024: 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. → Financial Aid Prep for Teens and Parents (Virtual)
- Saturday, November 9, 2024: 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. → Scholarships 101 for Teens (Room 108)
- Saturday, December 21, 2024: 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. → Meet Your College Funding Experts (Room 131/132)
Spring workshops will take a deeper dive into the SAT, a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. In addition to instruction on each section of the test (Reading, Writing, and Math), there will also be two proctored, digital practice exams. Students who attend all five in-person SAT workshop sessions will receive a $10 gift card.
- Thursday, January 9, 2025: 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. → Digital SAT Pre-Proctored Exam (Training Lab)
- Saturday, February 1, 2025: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. → SAT Reading (Room 131/132)
- Saturday, March 1, 2025: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. → SAT Writing (Room 131/132)
- Saturday, April 5, 2025: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. → SAT Mathematics (Room 131/132)
- Thursday, May 8, 2025: 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. → Digital SAT Post-Proctored Exam (Training Lab)
