The End of The Road: An Interview With New York Times Obituary Writer Penelope Green
Virtual
The staff of The New York Times Obituary Desk don’t usually give interviews or speak to community groups. However, Penelope Green, an Obit Writer who focuses on people who have left a mark on American culture, has agreed to be interviewed by Librarian Dick Levinson. Ms. Green will discuss both the pleasures and challenges of a job that requires her to write brief but clear accounts of lives that were often complex, controversial and may include many chapters. Penelope Green was both a features writer and an editor at the Times before joining the obit desk. This experience has given her the ability to spot a great story or a telling quote that helps to illuminate a noteworthy life. This virtual Zoom program is brought to you by the Senior Center and co-sponsored by Penn’s Village, a local Philadelphia non-profit that helps seniors to remain in the homes and neighborhoods that they love.
