Teen Workshop: The Tradition: Immigrant Families and the Culture Clash
Online
"Take the Mic" is a virtual series of spoken word workshops that invites teens to explore the themes of The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo, the 2021 One Book, One Philadelphia Young Adult selection, and their own multiple identities using poetry and theater exercises.
In this session, "The Tradition: Immigrant Families and the Culture Clash," we'll discuss and write about the cultural differences that exist between ourselves and the other members of our families.
Each workshop is led by award-winning poet and playwright Joshua A. Campbell along with guest artists, and will culminate in sharing new material. No writing experience or reading of The Poet X is needed to attend, and participants are invited to join one or all workshops.
