"This play is about the men I’ve met, loved, lost, and found. Its all the things I wished someone had told me about growing up. Its all my mistakes, lessons, joys & triumphs. Its my sadness, melancholic, rage, joy, and grief. It’s the letter to myself that I’ve been putting off writing. It’s the equivalent of Janet’s transformation between her Janet album and her Velvet Rope album ( If you ever want to know how I exist in the world, that album is it).  This play is a love letter to myself: at 27. A love letter to remind myself the best is yet to come when you chose to welcome in the next chapter. This is my Beyonce Homecoming (although she and I have creative disagreements). This play is a remix of remembrance to ntozake shange and her play “for colored girls…”, which has shaped my artistry, my lineage, and my power to be unapologetic about the world I see. This piece is very disco, 90’s R&B, and Hip Hop."
