By Shannon G RSS Wed, December 2, 2009

The New York Times recently revealed its line-up of 2009’s best fiction, nonfiction, and poetry in its annual 100 Notable Books list. Many of the authors that we hosted at the Parkway Central Library this year, including Mary Gaitskill, Lorrie Moore, and Jeannette Walls, made the cut. If you missed their appearances, search our podcast archives!

Take a look at the list, and let us know which books you’ve already read and which ones are on your holiday wish-list!

I read Penelope Lively's Family Album at the Chicago airport and on my flight home when I went home for Thanksgiving. I would like to read Every Man Dies Alone by Hans Fallada (though it is a translation) during the Christmas break. The title sounds poignant and caught my attention the second I saw the New York Times' 100 Notable Books list. It would be great if the Philly Free library stocks this book as I will be visiting my family in Philadelphia for Christmas.

That is a very good list. It is good to know that I have read 2% of the books of the list, that means 5. I hope I could read more but lets see.
