Today marks the 40th Anniversary of Sesame Street, the educational children’s television show that bridged the gap between education and entertainment.
Check out one of our favorites here at the Library - a video in which the Cookie Monster visits a library and doesn't understand why it doesn't have cookies!
As we wish 40 more wonderful years to Sesame Street, search our catalog for numerous Sesame Street materials you can check out!

Ah, those were simpler days, when libraries had "books! Just books!" Nowadays, the beleagued Muppet librarian would have to mention audiobooks, DVDs, music CDs, serials, downloadable media, and the list goes on and on. And if I'm not mistaken, Central Library even has cookies at the H.O.M.E. Page Cafe. Cookie Monster would be in heaven!

40 years old, yet it's timeless. How many TV shows make the transition from generations to generations like Sesame Street does and still stay on the air? I loved it as a kid and my children love it now (40 years later!)

I agree with Caroline. You have too much option now for the kids. You go to library for books they will ask you this and that, if you ask if any they will give you a blank look!
Last time I was in the library every single person was using Internet, not a single person was browsing at the bookshelves!
