Jimmy Rollins Goes to Bat for the Free Library, State Senator Presents $2 Million

By Communications Office RSS Tue, June 19, 2007

If you haven't already heard, Phillies infielder Jimmy Rollins recently volunteered his voice as an official spokesperson for the Campaign for a New Central Library on the Parkway. This past Friday the Phillies hosted a press conference at Citizens Bank Park, and Rollins was on hand to share remarks and thank State Senator Vincent Fumo for being instrumental in securing an additional $2 million in state funds for the Central Library Expansion Project .

This $2 million announcement comes on the heels of a $15 million challenge grant from an anonymous donor received in April. Private gifts made through April of 2008 will be eligible for matching up to a total of $15 million, which will bring the campaign $30 million closer to its goal. These donations will help make the New Central Library a reality, enabling increased public access to the Library’s extensive collections as well as a multitude of important new services. If you’d like to make a donation to help us meet this donor’s challenge, please call the Development Office at 215-567-7710 and specify that you’d like to make a donation to the Campaign for a New Central Library on the Parkway.
