Do you have a young scientist at home? An endless Lego tower builder or a spaceship dreamer? A robot creator or future climate-change solver? Sign up for a new virtual summertime science adventure with The Franklin Institute. This year, curious young minds will have the chance to Be An Engineer. This program is designed for children ages 7-13, but it’s a perfect opportunity for the whole family to explore together from home!

With at-home experiments and online videos, participating kids and tweens will put their engineering hats on to solve real-world problems. Then they'll join a virtual research team to share their solutions with scientists and educators from The Franklin Institute.

This year, families in Philadelphia can join the online lottery from May 3-21 to receive a kit of Science in the Summer materials. You can sign up here!

If selected, each family will be provided with everything they need to participate in either Environmental Engineer or Electrical Engineer activities, along with pick-up instructions. Kit pick-up will take place at select neighborhood libraries from June 14-July 2.

If you are not selected in the lottery, your family can still participate! All videos, activity guides, and materials lists will be available online.
