Each October, the Young Adult Library Services Association celebrates TeenTober. It’s a nationwide celebration which "aims to celebrate teens, promote year-round, innovative teen services that help teens learn new skills, and fuel their passions in and outside the library."

Of course, we aim to do this every day at the Field Teen Center! Even during the pandemic, we've offered virtual programming and resources for Philly teens.

Upcoming programs, resources, and other fun content

Teens can follow our Instagram for resources, activities, and more.

Your first stop should be our Instagram. You can take some time for Self Care on Mondays when Yona posts a Mindfulness tip or get creative on Wednesdays when Nick posts some Maker updates. We even host live programs on Instagram Live! Check out Melissa’s Jewelry Making videos, she’s created some amazing stuff that you can try too! On Tuesdays, Yona hosts Homework Hangout, a relaxing coworking space to help teens work on projects and support each other. We also have two archived conversations with current college students about their experiences attending college during the pandemic. Check out Teen Talk to watch those conversations!

Resources for teachers and students

Students can find homework help and book recommendations online.

If you are missing out on in-person homework help at our libraries, be sure to check out the Free Library’s digital resource Homework Help Online—it’s free with your library card!

Teachers are encouraged to reach out to us to schedule Virtual Class Visits. Librarians can log on to your virtual classroom and provide information about a number of topics such as our digital resources and available services. If you are looking for book suggestions, you can always reach out to us, but we have also created curated book lists in our catalog for your enjoyment. If you’d rather have a visual, we have Book Talks available to view on YouTube. Book Talks can be a great classroom resource for teachers hoping to encourage their students' love of reading.

You can always sign up for our Monthly Newsletter so you never miss any new programs or events!

We know that this TeenTober looks different than in years past, but we look forward to providing you with many of the great services you need in a virtual setting. If you have any questions about the Field Teen Center, please reach out to us by email at TeenCenter @ freelibrary.org or by phone at 215-828-7133.
