In the real world, small technical details count for a lot. How many checks were never cashed because the person who wrote it forgot to sign it? How many important cards and letters were never delivered because the sender forgot to include the zip code? Did you remember to place your signed mail-in ballot in the secrecy envelope and then place it in the return envelope?!
We mention this because, over the next few weeks, a record number of Philadelphia voters will be voting by mail for the first time. Ballots that are incorrectly filled out and returned without the inner security envelope are known as "Naked Ballots" and will be rejected.
If voting by mail-in ballot, follow these important instructions!
- Fill out your ballot.
- Place your ballot in the secrecy envelope.
- Fill out and sign the voter declaration.
- Place the sealed secrecy envelope in the return envelope.
- Mail-in your signed and sealed ballot or you can conveniently drop it off at one of 17 satellite election offices throughout Philadelphia!
A completed application for a mail-in ballot must be received by the Philadelphia County Registrar of Voters Office by October 27, 2020. If you have questions or concerns, you can contact them via their website or by phone at 215-686-1590.
