The virtual Summer of Wonder has something fun for everyone! Is your summer menu in a rut? Sign up to Learn from the Chef with the Culinary Literacy Center. Missing the Field Teen Center? Sign up for their Virtual Teen Reading Lounge for hangout opportunities and free books. Check out Free Library Early Learning’s Youtube channel for tips for parents and videos for younger kids! Monday: Imagination Station
Need someone to walk the dog for you, help with the dishes, and laugh at your jokes? Join us for the Build-a-Bot workshop where we’ll imagine and design the perfect robot.

Tuesday: Question Connection
Design your own marble run for a high-velocity experiment with energy, gravity, and friction.

Wednesday: Culture Corner
Ever looked at the pyramids and wondered how people could build something so huge without bulldozers or cranes? Explore ancient technology and learn about engineering masters of the past.

Virtual Performance: The Uncle Devin Show |Wednesday, July 15, 11:00 a.m.
Get down with drummer Devin Walker in a fantastic interactive musical experience, a dynamic cross between DC’s Trouble Funk and Schoolhouse Rock!
For kids of all ages.

Thursday: DIY Lit Lab
Learn to play Change One Word, a fantastical group storytelling game!

Friday: Freestyle
Arcades may be closed, but you can build your own! We’ll share how to make a few classic arcade games just in time for the weekend.

Free Library Virtual Summer Program Highlights, Week 7

Minecraft Day | Monday, July 13, 3:00 p.m.
Join the Kensington neighborhood library staff for Minecraft Club, where up to eight players can play together in their very own Minecraft Realm! See the event description for details.
For ages 8 and up.

Crafting with Miss Jill and Miss Terri | Tuesday, July 14, 3:30 p.m
Miss Jill and Miss Teri of the Philadelphia City Institute Children’s Room miss all of their young friends SO MUCH. Join them for crafts and recommended reads, then share a photo of your creation online!
For school age.

Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the 21st Century | Wednesday, July 15, 7:30 p.m.
Part of the free series from Author Events, the Free Library will feature acclaimed author, activist, and founder of the Disability Visibility Project, Alice Wong, alongside actress, comedian, writer, and disability advocate Maysoon Zayid. Free with advanced registration.
For teens and adults.

Museum Adventures at the Rosenbach | Thursday, July 16, 10:00 a.m.
Calling all pre-schoolers for an adventure in the museum! We’ll read stories together and then embark on a virtual treasure hunt through the Rosenbach. Craft to follow. Free with registration.
For ages 1-5.

The Art of Resistance | Friday, July 17, 3:00 p.m.
Look at the ways artists of color have used art as a form of resistance against racism in this social justice workshop. Free, registration required.
For ages 12-20.
