Digital Media Spotlight | New Audiobooks for Holiday Travels

It's getting close to being "the most wonderful time of the year", or, if you have to travel far and wide—over the river and through the woods even—you may need some help getting to where you need to be for those holiday celebrations with family and friends. What better way to while away that travel time on the highways and byways, buses and subways, then with an audiobook?

Lucky for you the Free Library has three dedicated digital media services you can access—for free—that are full of streamable and downloadable audiobooks!

Your first stop for audiobooks (and ebooks, print books, DVDs, and pretty much anything else) should always be our online catalog. Each of the following digital content platforms offer their own mobile app and website. Once you find the item you want to checkout from our catalog, you can then follow the link to that particular digital platform to listen to your audiobook. Now let's rundown each service and its features:

Overdrive
Media Formats: Streaming and Downloads
Checkouts and Holds: You can checkout 6 audiobooks at a time and have up to 10 titles on hold. Loan periods for audiobooks range from 7 to 21 days.
Available Apps: iOS, Android, Chrome, Amazon. Overdrive has also rolled out a brand new app specifically for audiobooks and ebooks—Meet Libby!

Recently suggested titles from Overdrive include Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo, The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead, The Testaments by Margaret Atwood, Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell, and legendary singer-songwriter Elton John's biography, Me.

Podcasts
And last but certainly not least, we'd be remiss if we also didn't suggest these other audio treats for you to listen to—our archive of over 1800 Author Events podcasts!
