What's New with LEAP?

Now that the new school year is up and running, LEAP would like to welcome students back to school! LEAP provides a safe and supportive afterschool environment for school-age patrons grades K – 12, complete with homework help, computer access, and literacy enrichment activities galore.

Here's just some of this year's LEAP Program Highlights!

Check out Crafternoon Saturdays at Walnut Street West Library for projects like zine-making and the chance to design your own analogue meme.

If STEM is more your style, Celebrate R.L. Stine’s birthday with a spooky concoction at the Goosebumps Slime Party at the South Philadelphia Library.

Feeling the stress of the school year starting up? Relax and get centered with Yoga and Mindfulness for Kids at Andorra Library.

Worried about which high school to attend? Explore your options and ask all of your burning questions at the High School Choices event at McPherson Square Library.

Check out the brand new Teen Center at Parkway Central Library for cool clubs, hands-on learning, and ample space to meet up or chill for teens ages 12-18. There's also plenty of new Young Adult fiction, comics and graphic novels, manga, and nonfiction to browse and borrow.

From relationship basics to budgets, learn the life-skills you need with Adulting 101 on Thursday afternoons.
 

 


 

Community Centered
Join the Sexuality and Gender Acceptance Club (SAGA) to celebrate National Coming Out Day! Anyone interested in supporting queer communities is welcome to attend.

Get your RPG on and explore your favorite fandoms with Geekscapes or enjoy our expanded collection of anime and manga with the Teen Anime Club.

Drop in for Open Studio on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., for a 2-hour session with the Field Teen Center’s Maker Mentor to work on drawing, observation skills, and experiment with various mediums and techniques. Young artists of all skill levels are welcome and materials are provided!

Or share your prose or poetry with peers and hone your voice at the Creative Writing Club.

LEAP is a free, drop-in program available four days a week afterschool and on Saturdays at all neighborhood libraries across Philadelphia. No registration is required.
