Kicking off Literacy in Early Learning Spaces

By Devon L. RSS Thu, October 4, 2018

The library is excited to kick off a new school year with our littlest learners… we are looking at you, babies, toddlers, and preschoolers! Thanks to a generous investment from the Vanguard Strong Start for Kids Program™, we are set to launch our 3-year Literacy in Early Learning Spaces program in childcare spaces in Logan and South Philly neighborhoods.

This program, focused on literacy and language development for children ages birth – 5 years, provides books and materials for childcare programs, Professional Development for childcare teachers, dual language learning support, fun and encouraging on-site coaching by our Early Childhood Literacy Specialists, and special events for families at participating sites.

Applications are closed in Logan, but remain open in the 19148 neighborhood in South Philly.

Do you have a STAR 1 or STAR 2 child care program in 19148? Apply today!

Would you like more info? email earlylearning@freelibrary.org.

In the next two years, we will open this initiative to STAR 1 & 2 childcare programs in five additional neighborhoods: 19120, 19121, 19133, 19139, and 19143

The Vanguard Strong Start for Kids Program™ is dedicated to helping provide children the opportunity to grow, thrive, and learn in communities near each of Vanguard’s major U.S. Sites.  The Initiative is funded through a combination of Vanguard corporate gifts and Vanguard employee gifts from the company’s annual giving campaign.
