Meet Your Library Staff: Link Ross - Children's Librarian at South Philadelphia Library

By Administrator RSS Wed, June 13, 2018

In our ongoing series of blog posts highlighting our awesome staff throughout the Free Library of Philadelphia, today we take some time to speak with Link Ross - Children's Librarian at South Philadelphia Library...

What is your role with the Free Library of Philadelphia?
I'm a Children's Librarian at the South Philadelphia Library. I am also one of librarians who started our Book Bikes program, which I manage and ride in South Philly.

What do you wish more people knew about the library where you work?
Every week we have "traditional" library programs like storytimes and homework help, but also so much more! Some of the programs we regularly offer include vegan cooking classes, an English Conversation group, Overdose reversal training, jazz concerts, computer classes, and the list goes on.

What is the most satisfying aspect of your job?
Being able to meet and make connections with new people everyday

What are you currently reading/watching?
I'm reading A Line in the Dark by Malinda Lo, which is a gay teen thriller. I'm trying to start a queer bookclub with my friends and this is the trial run. Wish us luck (and send suggestions). I'm also watching Vanderpump Rules, and unabashedly love reality TV.

Where’s your favorite place to read in Philly?
Home sweet home in South Philly.

Do you have a favorite librarian or other staff member at your neighborhood library you think we should shine a spotlight on? Let us know in the comments!

I just watched TED and listen to Chera Kowalskis y'all about opioid abuse around and in the library. I was very impressed by here concern and care. Im a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and work with sponcies that are coming off opioids and trying to recover. It a deceptive drug that makes all that use it addicted to it at some level. If I can help in any way or at least pass on my thanks to Cher's and give her my email address if she needs help with anything. Thanks. Charlie Dean. cedean53@gmail.com
