You'll have to excuse me today, I'm a little tired after watching this weekend's wild awards ceremonies. And no, I don't mean The Oscars (although, #envelopegate would get my vote for "Best Dramedy"!). I'm referring to The Golden Rasberry Awards, or The Razzies as they are affectionately (and sarcastically) called.
2017 marks the 37th time the awards have been given out, which consist of gold spray-painted raspberries atop reels of film—only costing a budget-friendly $4.97. This year had so many bad films according to the Razzies selection committee, they expanded the number of nominees from five to six in each of its nine categories! The painfully unfunny parody-of-a-parody-comedy Zoolander No. 2 topped this year's nominations with nine, followed closely by the bloated blockbuster beat'em up Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with eight.
My love for, tolerance of, and piqued curiosity of all-things-cinematically-bad has been stated here on this blog in the past, so I'm no stranger to this annual celebration of the best of the worst that Hollywood belches up every year. I tried to play catch up this past weekend in a binge-watching frenzy of awfulness and think I may have broken my brain in the process : S
And the nominees and winners (shown in gold)... er, I mean, losers, are...
