As we turn the page on 2016 and embark on exciting new chapters in 2017, a nationwide social media movement is afoot! Led by the New York Public Library (NYPL), libraries and cultural institutions across the nation are highlighting the power of books to show that reading truly does build knowledge, understanding, and empathy – a few things we all need right now.
Starting today and extending throughout the month of January, we encourage all library lovers and voracious readers to share what books they’re currently reading (or listening to) by sharing via social media with the hashtag #ReadersUnite. The aim of the campaign is to bring readers everywhere together to share ideas and information freely. Selected posts will be retweeted and reposted by the Free Library and other participants!
Be sure to keep up with what others are reading by following the hashtag. Now let’s all come together through the power of books!
