Children's Books for Your Next Roadtrip!

August is hot and steamy in Philadelphia... a perfect time to take a vacation to somewhere sunny, beachy, or just far away. Need some books to keep the kids busy? Here you go!

Everything Goes On Land by Philadelphia’s own Brian Biggs is like a modernized Cars and Trucks and Things That Go, Richard Scarry’s classic search-and-find picture book. Henry and his dad visit the city and see just about every vehicle that goes on land. Chock-full of activities and details, this will keep the kids busy in the back seat for a while.

The Airport Book by Lisa Brown offers a first-time look at what happens when you go on an airplane ride. Follow a family (and their stuffed friend Monkey) on their journey, spying interesting people and packages and waiting in long lines, but always with something interesting to see. (And where did Monkey go?)

Are We There Yet? by Dan Santat. We’ve all heard that line, repeated over and over: “Are we there yet?!” This inventive new book by the Caldecott-winning creator of The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend tells the story of a very long, very boring car ride that turns into a madcap adventure through time itself.
