The role of the library in the 21st century is a question we think about a lot—and we aren't the only ones asking. The Knight Foundation is continuing the success of the Knight News Challenge this year, asking: "How Might libraries serve 21st century information needs?"
As new ways of producing and consuming information develop in this new century, libraries play a vital role in building and sustaining an informed community by connecting people to these new streams of information. To support this growth, The Knight Foundation continues its search for ways to meet these changing needs, and it aims to explore opportunities for libraries to enrich and expand their services and capabilities. Winning ideas will be awarded a share of $3 million, to be awarded this summer.
They are interested in ideas from anyone in the U.S., from individuals to new and old organizations.
The challenge opens February 24 at 8:00 a.m. and closes on March 21 at 5:00 p.m.
