September 2015 Early Literacy Calendar

By Sarah S. RSS Thu, September 3, 2015

We hope you've all been having a great summer! At least we know you have been reading, as we just wrapped up another wonder-filled Summer Reading season. We've also added another initiative to our ever-expaning roster, READ by 4th!, which includes such great programs and services as One Book, Every Young Child, Building Bridges with Books, Read, Baby, Read Library Cards, Wooden Blog Parties, and the Words at Play Vocabulary Initiative.

While older children are getting ready to go back to school, we haven't forgotten about our pre-k set: this month's Early Literacy calendar and links, compiled by Free Library of Philadelphia's children's librarians, is full of great suggestions that parents and caregivers can engage in with their children to help nurture and develop the five necessary Early Literacy skills of Reading, Writing, Talking, Singing, and Playing.
