It’s almost time for the 23rd Annual Philadelphia Film Festival! This year, the Free Library of Philadelphia is happy to partner with the Philadelphia Film Society to provide special discounts on tickets to the Festival. Use the promo code PFLPFF23 to receive $2 off any regular priced ticket.

There will be over 100 films from around the world screened during the Festival, which runs from Thursday, October 16 to Sunday, October 26. Just as the Free Library offers something for everyone, so does the Festival. From musicals and foreign-language films to films produced by Philly locals and classics from the vaults, the selection of films is wide-reaching and diverse. For those of you who saw David Lynch speak at the Free Library earlier ths fall (or if you're sad to have missed him), check out the David Lynch retrospective series. If you have a short attention span (or just prefer short stories), there will be a bunch of film shorts shown before longer features. For those looking to travel the world without leaving the comfort of theater seats, your film ticket will be a passport into countries like Japan, India, Germany, Australia, Israel, Ukraine, and Brazil. Itching to get in the Halloween spirit? Make time to catch a late-night, Graveyard Shift film promising a creepy cinematic experience. If you never recovered from the disappointment of not receiving a Hogwarts letter, you'll be heartened to see Mudbloods, in which muggles get to play Quidditch. And if you liked Cheryl Strayed's memoir Wild, be sure to see the movie adaptation, playing on the last night of the Festival. Perhaps best of all, you'll be able to attend films categorized as American Independents and Documentaries for free with the Festival’s PFF on Us Program!
