Here are the Top 10 ebooks downloaded from the Free Library's OverDrive Digital Library in January 2014.

There were more than 58,700 ebooks checked out and downloaded for the first month of the new year! No surprise there, what with the awful winter weather we have been experiencing, what better way to take a break from shoveling snow than download and read an ebook!

James Scott's debut novel The Kept took the #1 spot for the month. Once again, romance ebooks accounted for 5 out of the top 10 spots. Speaking of, we hope all you romance readers out there caught our romance lit-themed Google+ Hangouts On Air the week of Valentine's Day! Other notable books in this month's top 10 include the 1980s YA sci-fi classic Ender's Game, a new voluminous collection of Agatha Christie's famous detective stories featuring Hercule Poirot, and the nonfiction political biography Duty from former Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates.

The following list comprises fiction and nonfiction titles from across all genres, downloaded from both our website and mobile site.

1.		The Kept (fiction) by James Scott James Scott's literary debut, The Kept, is about a mother and her young son in rural New York state at the turn of the twentieth century, who set out to right a tragic wrong done to their family and reclaim their lives. Bush and Barack Obama during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Duty exposes war room politics with candidness and gives the reader an inside look at how government really works in Washington, D.C.
4.		Hotshot (fiction, romance, suspense) by Julie Garwood Another book full of contemporary romance and suspense from Julie Garwood. Hotshot is the tale of sisters who inherit an oceanfront resort, with the catch that they have to turn a profit within a year to retain the property. Of course, nefarious plans are in place by certain townspeople to sabotage the sisters. Only a childhood friend, F.B.I. agent Finn MacBain, can help now.
5.		The Rosie Project (fiction, humor, romance) by Graeme Simsion The debut from Graeme Simsion, a former IT consultant-turned-author, is a heartwarming and humorous rom-com flick in novel form (and will actually be adapted for the screen soon). Don is a socially challenged and lonely professor. Rosie is a colleague who is collaborating on a project with him. When the two meet, it's a case of awkward opposites attract proving there really is no science to love.
6.		Up From The Grave (fiction, paranormal romance) by Jeaniene Frost Vampires and rogue CIA agents and the undead, Oh My! The latest novel in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series ups the action and suspense to a feverish pace, while still retaining a powerful love story. Our heroic vampire couple Cat and Bones will have to risk their lives—and many secrets—to stay alive.
7.		Colters' Gift (fiction, romance) by Maya Banks Continuing the Colters' Legacy series, Colters' Gift finds Lauren Wilder fleeing from an abusive relationship and into the safety of friends in the Colorado mountains. But what happens when things become more than friendly and Lauren winds up in a complicated love triangle?
8.		Dark Wolf (fiction, romance, fantasy) by Christine Feehan The 25th (!) book in Christine Feehan's New York Times' bestselling paranormal romance series, Dark Wolf delves deeper into the Carpathian and Lycan bloodlines, the intermingling of darkness and light, human and undead, and the fate of doomed lovers.
9.		Ender's Game (YA science fiction) by Orson Scott Card Winner of the Hugo and Nebula Awards, this 1985 dystopian sci-fi classic shot back into the public eye at the end of 2013 with the recent release of a Hollywood blockbuster adaptation. In preparation for an insectoid alien invasion, earth children are trained in combat at a very young age through increasingly difficult games. Is Ender Wiggin the Earth's last hope for survival?
10.		Hercule Poirot: The Complete Short Stories (fiction, mystery) by Agatha Christie The tales of Agatha Christie's "Greatest Detective In The World", Hercule Poirot, have finally been collected in a single volume!
