As a part of One Book, One Philadelphia programming, Parkway Central Library’s Print and Picture Collection and Vivant Art Collection present a special historical and spiritual Haitian art exhibition, on display from Monday, February 6 through Saturday, March 31. Curated by Florcy Morriset, owner of Vivant Art Collection and Board Chair of the Haitian Professionals of Philadelphia, the exhibition uses Haitian art (from Vivant’s collection) to illustrate the perspective and experience of Haitians living at home and abroad. Highlighting the forefathers that aided in Haitian independence, along with prominent historical figures such as Toussaint L’Ouverture and Jean-Jacques Dessalines, the exhibition will also feature vodou artwork and iron drum artisan pieces.

Join us for a free, public reception on Thursday, February 23, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Print and Picture Collection.
