I used to read novels and short stories almost exclusive to other types of writing. In an effort to broaden my literary horizons a little while ago, I started reading and enjoying a wider selection of genres, like social science, poetry, and memoir. But (and I think you can see where this is going), I did so at the expense of my favorite genre of all: fiction. So, in 2012, I resolve to read more fiction again--in addition to, not at the expense of--my current reading habits. (Well, maybe at the expense of some less-than-literary blogs I may happen to skim from time to time...)
First on my list is Jeffrey Eugenides's new novel, The Marriage Plot. I'm also looking forward to 2012 releases, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo (non-fiction, I know, but it sounds so good!) What's your favorite new or not-so-new novel? Leave a comment -- I'm always looking for good reading suggestions!
