A Sneak Peek of One Book Events

By Eileen O. RSS Wed, November 2, 2011

With the 10th anniversary of One Book, One Philadelphia and a compelling, thoughtful selection for 2012, we’re really excited about the events surrounding this year’s program. Create Dangerously, a collection of essays and memoirs about the importance of immigrant artists and their work, gives Philadelphia the opportunity to discuss global and national issues, while also exploring different cultures and customs.

The eight inspired weeks of discussions, performances, and films will run from January 25 through March 17, 2012. There will be plenty of events for all ages including music and dance performances, gallery exhibitions, a meet and greet with author Edwidge Danticat, film screenings for children, a Haitian coffee fair focusing on fair trade, and a special One Book 10th anniversary dinner. And of course there will be ample opportunities to listen and share your thoughts on Create Dangerously in our various discussion groups.

Continue to check our blog and freelibrary.org/onebook for an updated calendar of events and more information on our official kick-off event. Until then, we hope you’re enjoying this year’s selection!
