Lloyd Alexander: The Cat’s Meow

By Caitlin G. RSS Tue, April 12, 2011

The Children’s Literature Research Collection is pleased to announce a new exhibit featuring the papers of celebrated children’s author Lloyd Alexander. It is now on display on the ground floor of the Parkway Central Library, just outside of the Children’s Department. Alexander was a Philadelphia native who donated his papers to the Free Library in 1995, including the manuscripts for such classics as The Black Cauldron (1965), Time Cat (1963), and The Marvelous Misadventures of Sebastian (1970). Alexander’s correspondence with friends and editors about his books is also part of the collection and is often very funny, giving great insight into his character. You can see manuscripts, original artwork by Alexander and others, and correspondence here at Parkway Central Library through June 2011. If you’re here for the Philadelphia Book Festival this week, please stop by and take a look!
