Free Library Celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Free Library of Philadelphia will celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. throughout the month of January with a variety of exciting programming for children and adults.

Sponsored by the Friends of Fox Chase Library, a celebration of Dr. King will take place on Wednesday, January 5 at 4:00 p.m. at Fox Chase Branch with a video presentation, book discussion, and more.

At Andorra Branch, LEAP after-school program participants are invited to remember the life and legacy of Dr. King on Thursday, January 13 at 4:00 p.m.

Also on Thursday, January 13 at 4:00 p.m., the Logan Branch welcomes families to remember Dr. King through short readings, poetry, and film. Later, on Tuesday, January 25 at 6:45 p.m., Logan Branch will host a storytime for children two to six years old and their caregivers featuring stories and songs about Dr. King.

On Wednesday, January 19 at 4:00 p.m., Roxborough Branch will host an afternoon of stories about handmade quilts and how they were used as maps during slavery.

And, remember that the Free Library of Philadelphia system will be closed on Monday, January 17 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!
