The Penguin Random House Banned Wagon is coming to Philadelphia for Banned Books Week and will make stops at Northeast Regional Library on Friday, October 10, and Parkway Central Library on Saturday, October 11. The Banned Wagon's last stop at Parkway Central will culminate in the Banned Book Fest!
The Banned Wagon will highlight a selection of books for all ages that are currently being banned and challenged across the country and distribute free copies of books while supplies last. Attendees can also take action by sending a note to local representatives through the Penguin Random House partnership with EveryLibrary. These programs reflect the heart of Banned Books Week, which is recognized annually across the United States.
Banned Books Week (October 5–11) celebrates the freedom to read, brings people together to stand against censorship, and supports diverse voices in literature. This annual event started in 1982 as a response to the growing push to ban or challenge books in schools, libraries, and bookstores, especially those that highlight marginalized voices or sensitive topics.
