Attention teens aged 14–19! Are you passionate about social justice? Are you looking for a unique learning and service opportunity? Philadelphia City Institute Library will be holding a Teen Social Justice Fellowship program this fall, and you could be a part of it!
We will select three Philadelphia teenagers between the ages of 14–19 to complete a Social Justice Fellowship. Fellows will participate in four one-hour meetings to plan the Free Library of Philadelphia’s 10th Annual Social Justice Symposium for young people. Meeting dates and times will be selected collaboratively by program participants. You should also expect to spend a few hours each week with self-directed learning and preparation for the program.
Fellowship Benefits:
-
Honorarium of $400
-
Food is provided at each meeting
-
Develop real-world skills
-
Work towards a better world
Successful applicants have a strong interest and commitment to social justice, community involvement, and personal development. Fellows will organize logistics and select content for the Symposium, either by choosing speakers or presenting workshops themselves. Attendance at the Symposium, which will be held in the fall of 2025, is required. Each fellow will receive their honorarium upon completion of the Symposium.
To apply, please complete the application form no later than Friday, July 11, 2025.
If you applied last year but were not selected, you are welcome to apply again! Please email nguyent@freelibrary.org with questions. We will notify all applicants of our decision by Wednesday, July 16.
This program is generously sponsored by the Philadelphia City Institute Board of Managers.
