Check out upcoming virtual career workshops for jobseekers at the Free Library, brought to you by Full Circle Group and JEVS Human Services! Workshops taught by Full Circle Group are made possible in part by Citizens. All workshops are free, but registration is required. Participants will be emailed Zoom meeting information upon registration.

 

Expert Tips On Promoting Yourself To Employers On LinkedIn Wednesday, January 11: 11:00 AM–12:00 PM

During this workshop you will learn to:

  • Build an effective LinkedIn profile that attracts the attention of recruiters
  • Make new connections with people at the top companies on your list
  • Find and apply for jobs, and master the importance of following up with the right people

Excel Range Names and PivotTables Tuesday, January 17: 12:00 PM–1:30 PM

Learn how to use named ranges and assign names to a cell or range of cells in a workbook. We’ll also explore PivotTables, a powerful tool for summarizing, analyzing, exploring, and presenting data, extracted from larger amounts of data elsewhere in an Excel workbook. Come learn the basics!

During this workshop you will learn:

During this workshop you will learn:

  • How to actively communicate the information you want the interviewer to know
  • How to answer any interview question
  • Important questions you need to ask in every interview
  • Psychological strategies for winning over interviewers

Excel Functions Employers Value Thursday, February 9: 3:00 PM–4:30 PM

Learn the Excel functions employers value: IF statements, VLOOKUP, TRIM, RIGHT, and LEFT; plus a basic review of Basic Math (PEMDAS) for formula writing.

Tricks of the Trade for Getting Your Resume Noticed Tuesday February 14: 1:00 PM–2:00 PM

During this workshop you will learn to:

  • Optimize your resume so that it has all the right keywords and rates high on Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Highlight accomplishments that will impress employers, instead of just focusing on your responsibilities
  • Essential "do's and don’ts" that can make all the difference

During this workshop you will learn:

  • How to analyze your resume from the point of view of a recruiter
  • Resume errors to avoid at all costs
  • How to maximize your accomplishments to make your resume more powerful
  • How to handle resume challenges, including employment gaps and multiple short-term jobs

LinkedIn Basics Thursday, February 23: 3:00 PM–4:30 PM

Getting started with LinkedIn can be confusing and intimidating – but it doesn’t have to be! This workshop will walk you through the basics of starting a LinkedIn account, populating your profile, and beginning your job search using the LinkedIn platform. In addition to enhancing your profile, you’ll be taught how to connect with contacts, track companies, join groups, and look for job opportunities.
