Main Lobby – 1^st Floor

Parkway Central Library's main lobby showcases unique Beaux Arts architecture and can be used for a variety of events, including weddings, ceremonies, receptions, and parties.

The high plaster ceiling with a "Greek key" design and rosettes harkens back to 18th-century neo-classical French architecture. Along the four sides of the room are ionic columns of carved limestone. The room is completed by a dark green Tinos-tile and pink Tennessee marble floor. At the far end of the room is the grand staircase leading to the second floor. Atop the first landing, Free Library founder Dr. William Pepper is commemorated with a bronze statue of his likeness by famed artist Karl Bitters.

The Lobby measures 32-feet wide by 75-feet long.
