The Free Library of Philadelphia Announces Rollout of Additional Saturday Hours

PHILADELPHIA - The Free Library of Philadelphia is expanding its six-day service by adding Saturday hours at seven additional neighborhood library locations. By October 18, 2025, a total of 39 libraries will be open and accessible to the public on Saturdays.   

“Libraries are vital community hubs,” said Kelly Richards, President and Director, The Free Library of Philadelphia. “By expanding our hours, we’re ensuring that more people can access the information, technology, and services they need, when they need them.”

This expansion is part of the Free Library’s ongoing commitment to increasing access to vital resources and services. We work to serve our communities by providing greater flexibility for families, students, job seekers, and lifelong learners.  

The following library branches have already added, or will soon add, Saturday hours:

September 20, 2025

  • Frankford Library

  • Lawncrest Library 

  • Roxborough Library

October 4, 2025

  • Bustleton Library 

  • Haddington Library

October 11, 2025

  • Cecil B. Moore Library

October 18, 2025

  • Chestnut Hill Library

The Free Library is committed to reaching its goal of having all 54 locations open six days a week by the end of the year.
