The Free Library of Philadelphia to Celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month Through Immersive Programming and Events Across the City
Pride Month features family celebrations, creative workshops, book clubs, storytimes, special events, and more
PHILADELPHIA -- This June, the Free Library of Philadelphia invites patrons to join libraries throughout the city in celebrating Pride Month. Programming is scheduled across various neighborhood branches, offering a vibrant lineup of events for all ages, celebrating and uplifting LGBTQ+ voices and stories.
“This year’s Pride Month programming theme is Always Been Here, Always Will Be,” said Kelly Richards, President and Director, Free Library of Philadelphia. “The theme acknowledges the enduring presence and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals throughout history."
Participants will get to experience a diverse array of events, ranging from topics like Vogue 101 with Jahad Martin, Drag Queen Storytimes, and a family concert series starring Ants on a Log. All are welcome to join a thought-provoking conversation on Black LGBTQ+ nightlife and a panel discussion hosted by the Philadelphia Trans Oral History Project exploring trans history, present, and future.
In addition to the dozens of events, the Free Library hosts the Barbara Gittings GLBT Collection, located at the Independence Library. The Gittings Collection is the largest LGBTQ+ public library collection east of San Francisco. Free Library also offers LGBTQ+ online resources, including curated reading lists and health and legal information.
An overview of events is available in the Free Library’s Pride Month 2025 Program Guide. For a complete listing of all upcoming events, visit freelibrary.org/pride.
