The job fair is an opportunity for those seeking employment in the nonprofit sector to meet with many local organizations and agencies planning to grow their teams.
Participating employers and community resources at the Nonprofit Job Fair include ACHIEVEability; the Anti-Drug & Alcohol Crusaders, Inc; Caring People Alliance; Catholic Community Services; Children's Hospital of Philadelphia; City of Philadelphia; City Year Philadelphia; Clarifi; Community Integrated Services; Congreso de Latinos, Inc.; Independence Mission Schools; Philadelphia Corporation for Aging; Philadelphia Legal Assistance; Philadelphia Youth Network; Potential, Inc.; The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center, Inc.; Dress for Success Philadelphia; Free Library of Philadelphia Volunteer Office; PA CareerLink®; The Wardrobe; and Women Against Abuse. This job fair is hosted by the Regional Foundation Center (RFC), a nonprofit resource center at the Free Library that has been serving Philadelphia's nonprofit community for close to 50 years. The RFC offers research appointments to help patrons get the most out of the Free Library’s resources and free workshops on topics relevant to nonprofit professionals. The job fair is made possible by funding from Citizens through the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation. Citizens and the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation have partnered for more than a decade on job seeker resources and career fairs.
“Philadelphia’s nonprofit organizations provide critical services and resources that positively impact individual lives and strengthen our communities. This job fair offers a way for anyone to become part of these amazing teams,” said Shara Pollie, executive vice president of the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation.
The Free Library’s Business Resource and Innovation Center has plenty of resources for nonprofit professionals that they can utilize ahead of the job fair and well after. Among those resources is a Guide to Nonprofit Careers offering information on what embarking on a career in nonprofits means. Patrons can visit the BRIC at the Parkway Central Library for free onsite access to Foundation Directory and Guidestar (also available remotely) to access the most comprehensive and up-to-date information on recent grants, financial information, and organizational movement.
The Free Library also offers a number of events and resources for all job seekers. The Library’s events calendar shows a list of upcoming events at library locations that include workshops, job fairs, résumé review, free headshots, and more.
