PHILADELPHIA, March 18, 2013 – The Free Library of Philadelphia’s Central Senior Services presents Publish or Perish: An Inside Look at the World of Book Publishing in 2013, a two-part series on the publishing industry, covering everything from self-publishing to marketing.
· On Thursday, April 11 in room 108 at 11:00 a.m., Christopher Navratil, Publisher of Running Press Books, will explain how he and his editors decide what to publish and how to market published books.
· On Tuesday, April 23 in room 108 at 11:00 a.m., author Lee Fishman will discuss the challenges of being a self-published author.
“After years of being shaken by a wave of mergers, the growth of Amazon, and the emergence of digital books, the industry is still struggling to establish a new normal,” Dick Levinson, Outreach Coordinator for Central Senior Services, remarks. “The goal of this series is to give Philadelphians a special inside look at the world of book publishing today.”
