FREE LIBRARY’S WORKPLACE WEDNESDAYS ANNOUNCES MARCH-APRIL SESSIONS
Parkway Central Library career workshops cover everything from résumés to interview skills
PHILADELPHIA, March 5, 2013—The Free Library of Philadelphia’s Parkway Central Library is pleased to offer a new series of Workplace Wednesday workshops beginning March 6, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Offered in two-month series from September to June, the free workshops teach participants about all aspects of job hunting.
“Workplace Wednesdays transforms lives,” says Siobhan A. Reardon, Free Library President and Director. “Through this series of programs, we guide our customers through the job search and help them gain the tools they need throughout the process.”
Workplace Wednesdays at the Parkway Central Library have helped more than 11,000 Philadelphians with career and employment issues. In just one year, nearly 1,000 individuals found jobs as a direct result of Library resources like the Workplace. Located on the second floor of Parkway Central, it offers public-access computers, print materials, and knowledgeable librarians to help customers.
During Workplace Wednesdays, instructors work with adult job seekers to help them identify skills and find the right job “fit.” From there, classes focus on résumé writing, internet resources for job hunters, and interviewing skills. The new series line-up is: Skills Assessment (March 6); Career Decision Making (March 13); How to Write a Résumé (March 20); Résumé Critique (March 27); Job Hunting Tips and Techniques (April 3); Interviewing Skills (April 10); and How to Prepare for a Job Fair (April 17). In addition, an entry level job fair will take place on April 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the lobby of Parkway Central.
Workplace Wednesdays are held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Room 118, on the first floor of Parkway Central, except Skills Assessment (March 6), which will be held in Room 26, on the ground floor. For more information on the workshops and the Workplace, as well as sign-up details, please call 215-686-5436.
Workplace Wednesdays are underwritten by the Citizens Bank Foundation.
