PHILADELPHIA, PA January 4, 2013—Does your e-gadget have you baffled? We’ve got you covered! Based on the overwhelmingly positive response to its Holiday E-Gadget Helpdesk, the Free Library is proud to announce that it will maintain a permanent E-Gadget Helpdesk in the lobby of the Parkway Central Library every Tuesday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Whether you want to learn how to download some of more than 80,000 ebooks to your new Kindle or Nook, discover all the hidden features of your new iPad or Windows 8 tablet, or just want to learn how to turn the darn thing on, the Free Library of Philadelphia’s gadget gurus can help you make the most of your new electronic device.
With expert knowledge of the ins and outs of every kind of electronic device under the sun, a gadget guru will help you master your new e-reader or tablet in no time. They can also help you explore and download materials from the Free Library’s extensive digital collections, including ebooks, audiobooks, music, and more. Don’t have a Free Library card? Don’t worry! They can also sign you up for one right on the spot!
Free Library cardholders enjoy a generous and ever-growing collection of digital resources. Through freelibrary.org, Library customers have access to more than 80,000 streaming or downloadable ebooks, more than 8,000 downloadable audiobooks, and more than 3 million streaming or downloadable pieces of music over six unique digital media platforms. In addition, they can access some 150 unique databases that will help them learn a new language, research their family history, or undertake market research for their new business idea. And as the largest provider of free Wi-Fi in the city, the Free Library makes it a snap for customers to access its digital resources at any of its 54 locations throughout Philadelphia.
