FREE LIBRARY HOSTS WRITING WORKSHOPS FOR SENIORS
Central Senior Services gives participants an opportunity to meet with local writing experts
PHILADELPHIA, PA October 21, 2011 – The Free Library of Philadelphia’s Central Senior Services is excited to present a new four-part program series for seniors called Publish Your Work. The series takes place on Wednesdays in November and December at 11:00 a.m. in room 108 of the Parkway Central Library and provides seniors a chance to listen to and meet four local writing experts.
Free Library President and Director Siobhan A. Reardon commented, “Central Senior Services does such a wonderful job of offering relevant and engaging programs for our seniors. With the ever-evolving publishing industry, and the writing arena being as competitive as ever, this series gives a helpful insider’s guide to getting your writing out there.”
Each of the four sessions is lead by a local author or journalist on the following dates:
• Wednesday, November 16: Sally Friedman, Freelance Journalist
• Wednesday, November 30: Elaine Terranova, Poet
• Wednesday, December 7: Diane McKinney-Whetstone, Novelist
• Wednesday, December 21: Robin Black, Short Story Writer
In addition to special programming, Central Senior Services offers a variety of services including computer assistance, large print books, and a diverse offering of magazines and newspapers.
Central Senior Services is generously funded by a grant from The Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation and federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds administered by the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
