JOB READINESS CENTER IN SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA CONTINUES TO AID JOB SEEKERS
Support from the Lincoln Financial Foundation funds the Free Library’s Paschalville Job Readiness Center for the fourth year
Philadelphia, PA, November 29—Job seekers in one of Philadelphia’s most economically challenged neighborhoods will continue to have access to a crucial resource, thanks to the ongoing support of the Lincoln Financial Foundation, which has generously funded the Paschalville Job Readiness Center for another year.
Since its inception four years ago, some 4,000 people have been served by the Job Readiness Center, which provides one-on-one assistance from the qualified Center staff who aid customers in preparing for interviews, connecting with GED and ESL courses, and utilizing job search resources.
Center visitors also have access to computers, printers, and fax machines to help in all aspects of their job searches, including setting up email accounts, accessing the internet to find prospective employers, creating résumés and cover letters, contacting potential employers, and submitting job applications.
“We at the Free Library strongly believe that by equipping more residents with the skill sets needed to find and secure new and better jobs, we can truly aid in the economic recovery of Philadelphia,” said Siobhan A. Reardon, President and Director of the Free Library of Philadelphia. “The Paschalville Job Readiness Center, made possible with the support of the Lincoln Financial Foundation, is a critical component of our endeavors to do just that, and I thank Lincoln for its ongoing support.”
In addition to its Paschalville Job Readiness Center, the Free Library provides a variety of resources to aid job seekers, including relevant courses throughout its 54-branch system, The Workplace career center housed at Parkway Central, and numerous books, databases, and electronic resources pertinent to job searches.
The Paschalville Job Readiness Center is located at the Paschalville Branch Library at 6942 Woodland Avenue. Hours of operation are: Monday, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Tuesday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Wednesday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; and Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. To reach the Center, please call 215-685-2662.
