BAND OF FAMOUS AUTHORS TO ROCK OUT IN PHILADELPHIA FOR FREE LIBRARY BENEFIT GIG
The Rock Bottom Remainders, a group featuring Mitch Albom, Dave Barry, Amy Tan, and more, put down their pens to play a benefit show at the Electric Factory this spring
PHILADELPHIA, March 16 2010—The Free Library of Philadelphia is getting ready to rock out on Thursday, April 22 at 8 p.m. during a special benefit concert featuring the Rock Bottom Remainders, a band of bestselling and award-winning authors.
Featuring a musical line-up including Amy Tan, Scott Turow, Mitch Albom, Dave Barry, Ridley Pearson, Roy Blount, Jr., Greg Iles, James McBride, and Kathi Kamen Goldmark—plus some surprise guests including poet Billy Collins—the Rock Bottom Remainders will take the stage at the Electric Factory for its first-ever Philadelphia performance. For the past 18 years, the band has embarked on a small annual benefit tour, and this year, they will be jamming up and down the Northeast, making stops in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston.
Since the group’s inception in 1992, the Rock Bottom Remainders have generously donated proceeds to literary organizations, and this year, the Free Library will receive 100 percent of the ticket profits in Philadelphia. Merchandise sales and proceeds from an exciting auction, as well as profits from a special V.I.P. reception with the Rock Bottom Remainders, will benefit the Free Library and its valuable programs, services, and resources.
Concert tickets will be available through the Electric Factory and Ticketmaster.com—for updates and more information, visit freelibrary.org/remainders.
