Bank of America Helps the Free Library Expand Programs
Philadelphia, January 2, 2007- A generous grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, which supports many Free Library of Philadelphia programs, will fund career and financial education workshops at Free Library agencies around the city this year. The foundation believes that an “anchor institution” like the Free Library of Philadelphia “helps our neighborhoods develop intellectual, human, and physical capital to strengthen communities in which we live and work.”
One of the largest Free Library programs underwritten by this grant is WORKPLACE Wednesdays, a series of 32 job and career workshops, as well as the annual Entry-Level Job Fair at the Central Library, which will be held on April 11, 2007. The 21 other career and financial education workshops held at branch libraries will be called Jobs & Money 101. Financial education workshops will include topic such as Budget and Money Management, Get Checking, Establishing and Maintaining Credit, and Identity Theft. These workshops will be presented by the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Delaware Valley.
