The exhibition covers the career and work of Frank Stephens, a former Library Arts and Graphics Administrator who served the Free Library for over twenty-five years. From his early work as an illustrator and graphic designer to his work as exhibitions manager, Stephens explored innovative ways to promote the Library and its programs. these included posters designed for library programs as well as paintings of luminaries such as Marian Anderson and Reverend Leon Sullivan.

This exhibition presents a timeline placing Stephens and his work within a context of technological developments, political events, and artistic achievements occurring in America over the past fifty years. The exhibition includes paintings, drawings, and design work created by Stephens with commentary in his own words.

The exhibition will be on display through March 11.
