Martin Luther King III and Maestro Christoph Eschenbach Discuss Late Great Works of Literature and Music

The Free Library of Philadelphia has partnered with the Philadelphia Orchestra and WHYY to present "Late Great Words of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.," as part of the Orchestra's Late Great Works series.

The event on Friday, January 7, at 7 p.m. features Martin Luther King, III and Maestro Christoph Eschenbach and will take place at the Central Library, 1901 Vine Street in the Montgomery Auditorium. They will be interviewed together by WHYY’s Elisabeth Perez-Luna about how Dr. King's life experiences and beliefs were crystallized in his later writings and speeches. The evening will include the Maestro, accompanying on piano classical vocalist Lucia Bradford and Philadelphia Orchestra musicians.

The Late Great Works series by the Philadelphia Orchestra is designed to bring the worlds of art and culture together in a new and innovative way through lectures, discussions, and interviews combined with musical performances. The series lasts through January.

This event is free and open to the public. In honor of the Late Great Works Series, showing a Free Library card will afford patrons discounted admission to Orchestra events and the Philadelphia Museum of Art through January 31 of this year.
